    Day 14 of ★ 30 Days of Rockspiration ★   This week in ★ROCK STAR MONDAY★: STING   [easyrotator]erc_23_1358128215[/easyrotator]     Gordon Matthew Sumner was born on October 2, 1951 in Wallsend, England.  Like many of our RSM artists, his musical influence began early when he found a Spanish guiatar at age ten and became obsessed with it.  As a teen, he would sneak into clubs, and be influenced by his Rock Stars favorites, like Jimi Hendrix & Cream.  Sumner had some pretty eclectic jobs - bus conductor, construction worker and tax collector before a 2 year stint of teaching. His first love is jazz, and he began playing with local bands on weekends. Eventually he would move to London where he would meet Stewart Copeland and Henry Padovani. In the midst of the punk rock scene, Andy Summers replaced Padovani, and The Police were born, releasing 5 albums and winning 6 Grammy's.
