Round 1, Part I
OK….. here we go! FYI, know it may take a day or two to catch up in writing with what I’ve spewed out on video. Also, should you take on a similar project or just be writing or shooting, the #1 rule is…… there are no rules, and there is no right or wrong! This isn’t about perfection – that will be the book. Right now, It’s about truth and spilling my guts. Letting it out & letting go.
I was really pressed for time yesterday and that got me on a roll. While I was getting my video camera set up yesterday, I realized how much time I had had the day before. What is it? ‘A day late & a dollar short’ – one of my faves, and a whole ‘nother story. Anyhoo, once I was set up and started rolling, I got on a rant about fear & creative paralysis. Here it is.
Ever notice on the days you have all the time in the world, you don’t feel like doing anything? Or at least all the things you’re ‘supposed’ to be doing. You know, the things that are productive, that would bring you one step closer to your dreams and knock another thing off your list? Hey, it can be as simple as you just can’t get it up. The creative juices aren’t flowin’. Just sayin’……. it happens.
Or, you’re hit by emotional paralysis. Fear sets in like a warm blanket and before you know it, you’re all wrapped up in it, feeling cozy, snug and safe. I just heard that album rip sound go off in my head. You know where the needle goes crazy on the vinyl. That’s a wake up call. Guess what. When the bell rings (or the vinyl rips), you gotta do something.
Can we all agree that to improve, you gotta move? Sounds like a mantra to me. ‘To improve, I gotta move’. Say it as many times as you have to to get out from under those covers!
That’s as far as I got in my 1st session.

Amen, Paula! It is in line with, “You want something done, give it to a busy person!” At the end of a day when nothing is planned (but a lot needs to be done), I look and say, “That was a wasted day!”
But when I am busy and I schedule and/or maintain a To-Do list, I crank out the workload!
Oh Yeah.. when I get my workout in, I ALWAYS feel more productive!
Thanks, Paula! Be Well, my firend.
Wow! There is a lot of enthusiasm in this comment Paul – I can tell you are on fire
Best, Paula
when you’re working off your To-Do list…..
The clarity of mind & sense of well being
from a great workout adds a creative edge to my productivity too!
You’re on to something man – keep it going
I can definitely agree with the “to improve you gotta move” idea. I can be just plain slothful if there is no deadline with a consequence beyond it staring me in the face. Great post;
Thanks Melinda! I love your word, ‘slothful’ – that really paints the picture of how we move at times.
If we put the word ‘sloth’ in the context of one of the 7 deadly sins, we can easily see the consequence
of this behavior as ‘wasted talent’, poverty and apathy – none desirable for healthy living and achieving
goals. Yay! to Movement!
Thanks for your POV Melinda…. it took mine a foot deeper
Best, Paula
